Carlos Alcaraz rallied to a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Australian qualifier Li Tu in the opening round of the US Open on Tuesday.

It wasn't the most convincing performance by Alcaraz, but, buoyed by the electric crowd at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, he extended his winning streak in Grand Slams to 15.

After clinching titles at Wimbledon and the French Open, along with an Olympic silver medal earlier this year, the 21-year-old former champion Alcaraz was the overwhelming favorite by a long shot in the second round.

However, Dutch challenger Botic van de Zandschulp came out with guns blazing and pulled off a stunning upset. This marked Alcaraz's earliest departure from a Grand Slam since Wimbledon 2021.

Here is everything you need to know about Carlos Alcaraz's appearance at the US Open, including the latest results from the tournament.

Carlos Alcaraz was given a scare by Australian qualifier Li Tu in the opening round of the US Open on Tuesday before going on to seal a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory. His luck ran out in the very next match, though.

World No. 74-ranked Botic van de Zandschulp pulled off one of the biggest upsets in recent memory on Thursday when he stunned Alcaraz 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 in the second round, spoiling the Spaniard's hopes of a third straight major title.
