The Empress of Tomorrow… and the foreseeable future. WWE has just signed women’s superstar Asuka to a multi-year deal according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider. The terms of the contract have not been disclosed at this time.

While Asuka has been recuperating from knee surgery, fans have not seen her in the ring since May 2024’s WWE Backlash France, where she and Kairi Sane - as the Kabuki Warriors - dropped their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill.

Her in-ring faction Damage CTRL, which includes Sane, Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai have been holding down the fort on WWE’s flagship program Monday Night Raw since Asuka’s quiet hiatus. No timetable on Asuka’s return was given.

Fans will patiently look forward to seeing Asuka’s in-ring talent, which stood out amongst a very talented NXT roster from 2016 and into 2017. An impressive 510-day title reign catapulted her to the main WWE roster in late 2017.

The women’s division hasn’t lost a step in Asuka’s absence, with the current face of the WWE Rhea Ripley, an emerging Cargill, and younger talent like Lyra Valkyria shining in their recent television and premium live event appearances.

However Asuka's return, along with future Hall of Famers Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, will lead to some epic matchups come WrestleMania season.
