It's time for football fans to rejoice. The NFL is back in action and is kickstarting the 2024 season with a loaded Week 1 slate.
The NFL made Week 1 all the more exciting by scheduling four prime-time games to help fans get into the swing of the season. The league has games scheduled for Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday evening, and all but one feature battles between playoff teams from last season.
Despite these high-profile prime-time windows, the NFL's first Sunday slate of the season is shaping up to be good. Plenty of potential contenders will be in action while three rookie quarterbacks will make their first starts as they look to turn around downtrodden franchises.

Both CBS and Fox will broadcast six games during the Sunday afternoon slate. Fox will begin the season with the right to show a doubleheader with games in the 1 p.m. ET and 4 p.m. ET windows, and they seem likely to focus on the Steelers-Falcons and Cowboys-Browns games in each of those, with Tom Brady's broadcasting debut in the Dallas vs. Cleveland contest getting near-national treatment.
Meanwhile, CBS' coverage is more regionalized. The Bengals-Patriots game will be on in many of the major media markets, but the Raiders-Chargers game will also get plenty of attention in the later window.
Below are the full NFL coverage maps for Week 1, plus a list of major TV markets and the CBS and Fox games that will be presented in each on Sunday.

A total of 12 games will be played during the first Sunday afternoon slate of the NFL's regular season. The slate will be preceded by games on Thursday (Chiefs vs. Ravens) and Friday (Packers vs. Eagles) while "Sunday Night Football" featuring the Rams and Lions and a "Monday Night Football" clash between the Jets and 49ers will follow to close out the week.
Many of the marquee matchups for Week 1 will be in the prime-time slots, but fans will still be treated to a few good ones. The early slate will be headlined by the Dolphins vs. Jaguars game, while Caleb Williams' starting debut against the Titans will also draw plenty of attention.
In the late slate, fans will focus on the Cowboys-Browns game, which will feature Tom Brady's debut as a color commentator. Also of note in that window will be Jayden Daniels' debut against the Buccaneers and Jim Harbaugh's return to the NFL with the Chargers after a decade away.
That should be enough to excite NFL fans everywhere as the season gets underway.
