We’ve finally made it to the start of the 2024 NFL regular season. The regular season kicks off tomorrow, but fans of the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars will have to wait until Sunday to see their teams square off in a Week 1 battle.

One of the biggest storylines this offseason for the Miami Dolphins was injuries and the impact they have had on the team’s depth, particularly when it comes to the wide receiver position. Miami comes into their game against the Jaguars with just five wide receivers on the active roster.

That storyline is evident in the team’s first official injury report of the season, as Miami has a full 1/4th of their team listed in some capacity. Four players – offensive tackle Terron Armstead, defensive tackle Calais Campbell, linebacker Jaelan Phillips, and cornerback Jalen Ramsey – were listed as non-participants. Armstead and Campbell were non-participants via a “veteran rest” day, while Phillips and Ramsey were listed with Achilles and hamstring injuries respectively.

Miami also had eight players listed as “limited” participants in Wednesday’s practice: Linebacker Quinton Bell (thumb), center Aaron Brewer (hand), cornerback Kendall Fuller (vet rest), defensive tackle Benito Jones (knee), linebacker David Long (vet rest), safety Jordan Poyer (thumb/vet rest), linebacker Anthony Walker (knee/vet rest), and wide receiver Malik Washington (Quad).

Rounding out the injury report for the Dolphins, safety Jevon Holland was listed as a full participant while dealing with an ankle injury. If there’s one positive to be taken away from the Dolphins first report, it’s that seven of the thirteen were held out for a veteran rest day in some capacity, with four of the seven having that as their only designation.

On the other side, it’s been the complete opposite story for the Jaguars. Jacksonville was able to get through training camp and the preseason extremely healthy, all things considered. They have just one player, safety Daniel Thomas, listed. Thomas was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice with an Achilles injury.
