Helen Maroulis is a history-making wrestler who became the first U.S. female wrestler to qualify for three Olympic teams. She is ready to add to her legacy at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
A World Junior Championships winner, the Rockville, Maryland-born Maroulis won gold at the Pan American Games and the World Cup. She beat multi-time gold medalist Saori Yoshida in 2016 to win gold at the Olympics at 53kg.
It was the first time women in the U.S. won gold at a wrestling event.
Concussions, which led to PTSD, forced her to reset. Dancing helped her for the better, especially knowing wrestling would always be there for her.

"My love of the sport (wrestling) is what got me to come back. I was fighting to get healthy, but wrestling helped me to heal as well. Once that healing took place, I realized how much I loved it, and I wanted to do it [wrestling] again," Maroulis told Olympics.com.

Known for making adjustments during tournament events, the competitive Maroulis will adapt and force her opponents to make mistakes. She has an opportunity to earn her tenth Senior World medal at the 2024 Games and will make the most of the opportunity.
