Not one person or team could catch the USA women's 4x400-meter relay team.

The USA squad nearly set a new world record, defeating the rest of the field by over four seconds and about 40 meters. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone led the team with her 47.71 leg time.

The gold medalist in the 400-meter hurdles was the second leg for Team USA on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The United States men's 4x400-meter relay team also took home gold, albeit not in as dominant fashion. The team finished in 2:54.43 setting a new Olympic record and beating Botswana by 0.10 seconds.

Masai Russell was the third gold medalist for the United States, having won the women's 100-meter hurdles by 0.01 seconds. Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya also won by 0.01 seconds in the men's 800-meter final.
