The year has been full of some incredible poker moments. Among the headlines were Espen Jorstad winning the 2022 WSOP Main Event for $10 million after the series moved to the Las Vegas Strip for the first time, Daniel Negreanu scoring first place and winning $3,312,000 in the prestigious Super High Roller Bowl, and the World Poker Tour bringing back the WPT World Championship to the tune of a $15 million prize pool guarantee.
The poker world isn’t done yet, though. On tap is an absolutely jam-packed December in the gambling capital of the world, Las Vegas.
WPT and Wynn Partner for $15,000,000 Tournament Guarantee
Anchored by the $10,400 buy-in WPT World Championship event that brings live poker’s largest-ever tournament prize pool guarantee at $15,000,000, the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas series features a wide variety of tournaments across the first 20 days of December.
The WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas festival kicks off with a $600 buy-in no-limit hold’em event with a $500,000 guarantee. The $1,100 buy-in WPT Prime Championship boasts a $2,000,000 guarantee, as does the series’ $1,600 buy-in Mystery Bounty. A very special WPT Ladies Championship will be played and this one has an $1,100 price tag with a $200,000 guarantee.
When you include the satellite events on offer, the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas festival has buy-ins as low as $200 and up to $25,700. If our math is correct, there is more than $22,000,000 in total guaranteed prize money across the series, independent of the more than 200 seats guaranteed to various tournaments in the robust satellite offering.
The WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas series will also determine the WPT Season XX Player of the Year, with the winner taking home a $15,000 WPT Passport.
It’s pretty clear that the World Poker Tour and Wynn Las Vegas set out to construct a schedule that would make this a can’t-miss series for poker players of all levels, and we’d say they certainly achieved that.

$10,000, 15,000, and $25,000 Buy-In Events Galore at ARIA
The three five-figure buy-ins offered on the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas schedule aren’t the only high-priced events in December that will delight high rollers. The PokerGO Tour’s final batch of events takes place at ARIA Resort & Casino in December.
Starting December 1, there are 13 ARIA High Roller tournaments on the calendar through December 20, with buy-ins of $10,000, 15,000, and $25,000. These 13 high roller events and the $10,400 buy-in WPT World Championship are the final events of the 2022 PGT season, which means they are the final events players have to qualify for the season-ending PGT Championship.

PGT Season Concludes with $500,000 Winner-Take-All PGT Championship
Speaking of the PGT Championship, it comes everyone’s way on December 21. The 2022 PGT Championship will conclude the PGT’s second season, and it is a special 21-player freeroll to crown the 2022 PGT champion and award that player with a $500,000 prize.
At the conclusion of all open events that qualify for the PGT, so after the final ARIA High Roller and WPT World Championship on December 20, the top 21 players are ranked by the PGT leaderboard earn eligibility to compete in the winner-take-all PGT Championship that will award a $500,000 top prize.
Those in the top 21 of the leaderboard will begin the 2022 PGT Championship event with starting chip stacks based on the amount of points earned during the course of the PGT season. At time of writing, Stephen Chidwick is the PGT leaderboard frontrunner with 3,274 points, and he’s followed by Phil Ivey with 3,083 points and Jason Koon with 2,833 points.
