Bruno Fernandes has come out in support of Casemiro after the Brazilian's shambolic performance vs. Liverpool during their 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford.

Manchester United were embarrassed by Arne Slot's side and Erik ten Hag substituted Casemiro after such a poor first-half display.

The midfielder was rumoured to be leaving Manchester in the summer but stayed despite the club signing Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.

Many fans will feel as though he should have been cut from the squad like Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial, two other players who were on magnificent wages.

The United skipper said: "When you concede a goal, you can't just point at one mistake. What's the point in saying Casemiro or Kobbie lost the ball? They lost the ball because they wanted to be brave. It's part of football. Don't make it individual."

The Portuguese midfielder then said: "Casemiro is more experienced than me. I don't need to tell him anything, he knows what football is about. He's played for the two best clubs in the world. Kobbie is an excellent kid. I want him to try more and do this because it's part of his game. They are huge players for us and will keep being."

Former Man United captain Roy Keane added his opinion on the matter: "They [United] were absolutely shocking. Every time Liverpool went forward, they looked like they were going to score.

"There were two mistakes from an experienced player [Casemiro] and then another mistake at the start of the second half."

Gary Neville then also highlighted both Casemiro and Mainoo's performances: "Terrible mistakes. Casemiro, Mainoo... Liverpool won the ball high and punished them. A dark day for United. The management in the stands must ask themselves some questions."
