Casemiro’s wife has seemingly hit back at criticism of her husband’s shambolic performance in Manchester United’s 3-0 Premier League defeat to Liverpool

The Brazil midfielder was withdrawn by United boss Erik ten Hag at halftime on Sunday after he was culpable for both of the visitors' first-half goals at Old Trafford.

He was replaced by Toby Collyer, a 20-year-old making his Premier League debut.

It underlined the fall from grace endured by the 32-year-old ex-Real Madrid mainstay, whose form has unravelled badly since an impressive first season at United in 2022/23.

Ten Hag denied Casemiro left the stadium after being hooked and backed the player to continue to contribute for last season’s FA Cup winners.

On the other hand, Manuel Ugarte’s arrival from Paris Saint-Germain in the same week a rookie was viewed as a safer option to quell a rampant Liverpool does not paint an encouraging picture.

While Casemiro’s weekend outing drew sustained vitriol, Anna Mariana Casemiro posted a non-too-subtle picture on her Instagram story of her husband’s phenomenal trophy collection, crowned by five Champions Leagues won while at Real Madrid.

It made for a commendable show of defiance, but the fact remains that the time for Casemiro and his current employers to trade on past glories has long since passed.
