Former Manchester United star completes bold A League transfer move

Former Manchester United star Juan Mata has wrapped up a free transfer move to Australian side Western Sydney Wanderers.

Mata has move the bold switch to Australia as a free agent following his departure from Japanese giants Vissel Kobe at the start of 2024.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano dropped the news of Mata's arrival in Australia with details on his contract in Sydney expected to be confirmed in the coming days.

Mata has consistently dispelled rumours of a potential retirement with the veteran midfielder determined to extend his playing career a little longer.

The former Spanish international is aiming to win another league title in the final years of his career after securing domestic crowns in Turkey and Japan in recent seasons.

The 36-year-old brings a wealth of experience to Alen Stajcic's team, after making 278 Premier League appearances spread across spells at United and Chelsea, with two UEFA Europa League titles and one Champions League to his name.

He also won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2012 UEFA European Championship with Spain with ten goals scored in 41 international appearances for La Roja.
