Yves Bissouma made it clear he has put recent off-field indiscretions behind him during the first half of Tottenham's Premier League game with Everton.

The midfielder was left out of the opening draw with Leicester City after the club punished him for a video that appeared on social media showing him inhaling from a balloon said to have been filled with illegal nitrous oxide.

Postecoglou brought him back into the squad for this weekend, partly out of necessity, with Rodrigo Bentancur having sustained concussion against Leicester.

The Spurs boss said Bissouma was "building bridges" as he attempted to kick-start his season and move on from his suspension from the first team.

The player certainly made an impressive return against Sean Dyche's team, crashing in a superb shot off the underside of the crossbar to give the hosts the lead on Saturday.

After celebrating in front of fans, he then shared a warm embrace with Postecoglou on the touchlines, evidently grateful for the manager's decision to bring him back into the first-team picture.

Spurs were 2-0 up at halftime, Son Heung-min having doubled the lead thanks to an error from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
