The title of the best side in the Americas will be on the line at the Copa America 2024, but there is also big money at stake for all the teams taking part.

The showpiece match for this year's tournament takes place on July 14, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami — where the three-week long tournament will conclude.

Only two teams have made it to that fixture, with Argentina and Colombia among the sides looking to make history. But even those who fall by the wayside in the early stages of the tournament will go home considerably richer.

Every side taking part will share in a bumper prize fund for the tournament, with the amount on offer improving with each stage they make. Here, The Sporting News breaks down the prize money for the tournament.

How much does Copa America 2024 champion win?

Although the official prize pot has not been made public, it is believed that the Copa America 2024 champion will take home a record amount of $16 million, according to reports by ESPN.

That is significantly higher than the fund that was given to the last winner, Argentina in 2021, who claimed the trophy along with a reported prize of $6.5 million.

In total in 2024, there will be $72 million for the 16 participating teams. All of them will receive $2 million for being part of the tournament and from there, they will increase their purse according to their progress in the competition.

Teams who made it out of the group stage will add another $2 million. The team that finished in fourth place will win $4 million, while third place will receive $5 million and the runner-up will claim $7 million.

To that end, whoever loses the 2024 final will end up taking home a greater financial prize than the champion in 2021.
