Manchester City travel to the Santiago Bernabeu to face Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinal first leg on Tuesday, May 9.

Pep Guardiola's side are unbeaten in their past 20 matches in all competitions, winning 17 of those games. They have knocked out RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich on their way to the last four.

Los Blancos have already had some success against English sides in the Champions League this season, beating both Liverpool and Chelsea in the knockout rounds. They also defeated City in the semifinal last year, which will give them some confidence heading into this fixture.

The winner of tie will face either AC Milan or Inter Milan in the final in Istanbul.

Real Madrid lifted their third trophy of the season on Saturday after defeating Osasuna in the final of the Copa del Rey. They have already won the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2022/23.

Man City, meanwhile, are on course to match the treble achieved by rivals Man United back in 1998/99.

Real Madrid vs Man City lineups

It will be very unlikely that Carlo Ancelotti moves away from his favoured 4-3-3 formation. He was also able to rest a few players over Madrid's last few games.

Guardiola deployed a 4-2-3-1 to dismantle Arsenal 4-1 last month and has gone with the same XI from that game.

Below are the confirmed starting lineups for both teams ahead of their Champions League match at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid starting 11

(4-3-3): 1-Thibaut Courtois (GK) — 2-Dani Carvajal, 22-Antonio Rudiger, 4-David Alaba, 12-Eduardo Camavinga — 15-Federico Valverde, 8-Toni Kroos, 10-Luka Modric — 21-Rodrygo Goes, 9-Karim Benzema, 20-Vinicius Junior

  • Injured: Mendy
  • Suspended: Militao

Ferland Mendy remains sidelined with the calf injury that has kept him out since March 19, with Eduardo Camavinga will continuing at left-back.

Dani Ceballos is fit enough for a place on the bench after a muscular injury but Eder Militao is suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards.

Luka Modric and Antonio Rudiger were both benched during their side's Copa del Rey final win over Osasuna but return for this one.

Man City starting 11

(4-2-3-1): 31-Ederson (GK) — 2-Kyle Walker, 5-John Stones, 3-Ruben Dias, 25-Manuel Akanji —16-Rodri, 8-Ilkay Gundogan — 20-Bernardo Silva, 17-Kevin De Bruyne, 10-Jack Grealish — 9-Erling Haaland

  • Injured: Ake
  • Suspended: None

Nathan Ake (calf) being sidelined feels like a big miss for City. Manuel Akanji will once again fill in at left-back.

Kyle Walker starts at right-back and his one-on-one defensive capabilities against Vinicius could prove vital.
