Newcastle United edged Tottenham on penalties after a 1-1 draw in front of a mammoth MCG crowd in Melbourne, Australia.
A crowd of 78,419 turned out for the Wednesday night friendly, which saw both teams play their full strength XI's for the first half.
James Maddison put Spurs ahead after a horrible clearance from Nick Pope went straight to the playmaker in the 32nd minute.
Maddison still had plenty to do after receiving the ball, dribbling past two Magpie defenders before firing in off Pope's body.
However. Newcastle pulled a goal back just before half-time, with Alexander Isak stabbing home from point-blank range after stand-in Spurs goalkeeper Brandon Austin could only parry Jacob Murphy's cross into the Swedish striker's path.
The game lost plenty of momentum in the second half, as both teams swung the substitutions, which was no surprise considering the two teams finished their Premier League season less than 72 hours earlier.
With no winner after 90 minutes, the match went to penalties, with fringe Tottenham winger Bryan Gil missing the only penalty of the shootout to give victory to Newcastle United on the night.

Second half
Half time - Tottenham 1-1 Newcastle
Nick Pope's error gave James Maddison a gift to open the scoring for Spurs before Alexander Isak was in the right spot to tap home on the stroke of half time. Even match so far with both teams having a crack despite finishing their season only days ago.
45th min: GOAL NEWCASTLE (Alexander Isak)
Murphy gets to the byline and crosses it into the danger zone. Austin can only parry it into the path of Isak, who taps into the empty net.
40th min: CHANCE TOTTENHAM
Son plays the ball through the penalty box to Johnson, whose shot from point-blank is saved by Pope. The English goalkeeper redeems himself. Slightly.
37th min: SUBSTITUTION NEWCASTLE
Kieran Trippier is replaced by Jacob Murphy. Unsure if it's an injury. Weird time for a sub otherwise.
36th min: Replays show that Maddison might have controlled the ball on to his hand. No VAR in a friendly though. Referee doesn't see it and the goal stands.
32nd min: GOAL TOTTENHAM (James Maddison)
Nick Pope tries to pass the ball out from the back but it's straight to Maddison. The playmaker slaloms into the box and smashes a shot into the net off Pope's body. Terrible mistake by the goalkeeper. And one that he rarely makes.

25th min: Son tries to drive into the box with a clever dribble, but he runs straight into Trippier in the penalty area. There is a few light-hearted penalty appeals but the referee rightly waves it away.
22nd min: Johnson gets through to the byline but he can't pick out a Spurs player. The ball comes out to Maddison, who shoots wide of the left post from outside the area.
19th min: The corner is swung to the back post where Brandon Austin gets a fist on it to clear.
18th min: Newcastle win a corner after Porro makes an excellent challenge on an overlapping Hall.
16th min: Entertaining end to end game. Both teams with decent attacks. No real clear cut chances so far.
10th min: Kulusevski is played through into the area but Burn gets his body across and shields the ball out for a goal kick.
7th min: Kulusevski gets into the box and tries to pull the ball back for Sarr, but the ball gets caught up under his feet and Newcastle clear.
5th min: Replays showed Son's shot definitely struck the arm of Krafth, but the Newcastle defender's arms were by his side and didn't move toward the ball.
3rd min: The ball goes straight down the end and Newcastle's man, Alexander Isak, tries to pick out the top corner but fires just over.
