The New York Red Bulls look to get their first Leagues Cup win of the year when they welcome Liga MX opposition to New Jersey.
The Red Bulls host Los Tuzos, Pachuca, on Tuesday, July 30 at Red Bull Arena for a highly-anticipated showdown. It's Pachuca's first game in the competition, while it's the Red Bulls' second - they played Toronto FC to a scoreless draw last Saturday, meaning that the Red Bulls arguably need a win to ensure they'll advance to the knockout round.
Aside from the result against Toronto, the Red Bulls are in the middle of a solid MLS season despite a payroll much lower than some of their rivals. A recent 3-1 win over Eastern Conference power FC Cincinnati showcased style over stars.

On the other side, Pachuca has had a tough start to the Liga MX Apertura season, with just one win through the club's first four matches. However, 18-year-old winger Gael Alvarez continues to impress and he's become a regular started in league play, and has been getting looks from European scouts according to reports out of Mexico.

New York Red Bulls vs. Pachuca lineups & team news
Coach Sandro Schwarz has a quick turnaround from Saturday's scoreless draw with Toronto FC and he remains without a couple of key pieces. Emil Forsberg is out with a foot injury for another week or two, and John Tolkin is still out on international duty. Elias Manoel and Dante Vanzier both came off the bench and are likely to start against the Liga MX opposition.
New York Red Bulls projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Coronel (GK) — Nealis, Nealis, Reyes, Duncan — Edelman, Carmona, Donkor — Manoel, Vanzier, Morgan.
Arturo "Ponchito" Alvarez, former Mexico U-17 World Cup star, made the move to Pachuca this summer on loan and could make his first start for Los Tuzos in this tournament. Pachuca has been off since July 21 after a 2-0 defeat to Pumas UNAM in Liga MX action, so other than long-term injuries, they should have a fully fit squad to choose from.
Pachuca projected starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Moreno (GK) — Rodriguez, Micolta, Cabral, Rodriguez — Deossa, Pedraza — Alvarez, Gonzalez, Idrissi — Rondon.
