The U.S. Olympic roster has been selected, and now it's time to get the team ready for game one against Zambia on July 25.
The U.S. Women's National Team begins preparations for the Olympics with a friendly match against Mexico on Saturday, July 13 at Red Bull Arena in suburban New York City. It is the first of two tune-ups for Emma Hayes' team before they head to France for the start of the Olympics.
Hayes had a good look at her team in a pair of friendly wins in June after joining the USWNT full time, and the team got goals from all over the field, which is a good sign considering that they're still looking for a consistent No. 9. Sophia Smith, Mallory Swanson, and Crystal Dunn all scored last month, as did midfielder and defender Tierna Davidson.

Now, they'll go up against a Mexico side that made the semifinals of the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup earlier this year and in fact beat the USWNT in that competition.

USA Women vs. Mexico lineups & team news
With a squad boasting nearly full fitness for the first time in months, Emma Hayes can use this time to figure out what she wants her starting XI in France to be.
Unfortunately, Catarina Macario was forced to withdraw from the Olympic roster due to "knee soreness" with Lynn Williams taking her place in the squad. Sam Coffey returned from an ankle injury recently and figures to play.
USWNT starting lineup (4-3-3): 1. Naeher (GK) — 2. Fox, 4. Girma, 12. Davidson, 13. Nighswonger — 16. Lavelle, 17. Coffey, 10. Horan— 5. Rodman, 11. S. Smith, 9. Swanson.
Mexico are looking to return to winning ways after three defeats and a draw in their last four friendly matches. Mexico can count on a couple of key veterans, including Maria Sanchez in the middle of the field and Lizbeth Ovalle, who scored against the USWNT last time they met, out wide.
Mexico starting lineup (3-4-3): 21. Barreras (GK) — 4. Bernal, 14. Espinoza, 23. K. Rodriguez — 5. Luna, 7. M. Sanchez, 2. Orejel, 18. R. Reyes — 20. Camberos, 9. Palacios, 11. Ovalle.
USA Women vs. Mexico prediction
Playing on home soil and with the stress of Olympics roster selection gone, the U.S. should have no problems dispatching Mexico. Expect Sophia Smith, Trinity Rodman, and Mallory Swanson to be constantly moving in the front three and push Mexico's backline backwards, creating space in midfield for Horan and Macario. It could lead to plenty of goals.
