The 2023 CONCACAF Nations League third-place match should have more of an edge to it compared to your typical tournament consolation matches.

Mexico will be desperate to save face in Las Vegas after a 3-0 loss to the USA in the semifinals, as El Tri were thoroughly outplayed in suffering their heaviest defeat to their archrivals in official competition.

Panama left a positive impression against Canada despite incurring a blanking of their own (2-0). The Canaleros attack will need to be more pointed than it was on Thursday in order to pull off a surprise result against the higher-ranked Mexican side (15th vs. 58th in the world).

Mexico has lost just twice against Panama in the 27 matches the two nations have played (19W-2L-6D) and both of those happened in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

What time does Mexico vs Panama kick off?

The Nations League consolation match between Mexico and Panama will precede the championship match between the USA and Canada.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET (3 p.m. PT) from Las Vegas, Nevada. The match is being played under the roof at Allegiant Stadium, which still has a natural grass playing field, which is moved in and out as necessary.

The third-place match kicks off three hours before the final to allow enough time for extra time and penalties, if necessary.

While some third-place matches go straight to penalties, the official competition rules (page 22) indicate that the CONCACAF Nations League bronze medal match will go to extra time first, and then penalties if the deadlock persists.
